This Months Pattern is one that you can use for those last minute holiday gifts. You can make these all year long if you like, just change the fabric and you can have one for every holiday, season, or in any theme you like!

Materials needed:

Fabric, (fat quarters, leftover blocks, or scraps) Batting scraps cotton batting works best, Insulbright, Squares need to be at least 8.5 inches. Sewing machine, and general sewing supplies. A walking foot is helpful

  1. Cut two squares of fabric 8.5 inches- use a different fabric for the front and back.
  2. Cut one square of batting and one square of Insulbright also 8.5 inches.
  3. Place fabric A right side up
  4. Place fabric B wrong side up on top of fabric A
  5. Next place Insuslbright on top of Fabric B silver side down.
  6. And finially place batting on top of the insulbright.
  7. Pin the layers in place.

Now take this to the sewing machine and with your walking foot attached, sew around the outer edge. Leaving the center of one side open for turning. I leave about a hand width for the opening.

Next Clip your corners close to the seam. Turn the potholder right side out and press.

Hand sew the opening closed (like you do on a pillow)

You are almost done! Now do some quilting on the potholder to keep the layers in place. Suggestions for Quilting: Draw an “X”. Draw a small square and gradually make larger squares. Practice your free motion quilting patterns. Outline the pattern on the fabric.

Pictures can be helpful, so here are a few to follow:
